Need Extra Cash? Plato's Closet Review

Selling your clothes: Plato Closet Review

Here's how it works:
1
Bring in your gently used brand name clothing and accessories.
2
While you check out the latest styles in the store, the buyer will review your items.
3
The buyer will create an offer based on style, condition, brand and the store's current stock levels.
4
Once you accept the offer, you'll be on your way with some extra cash or a hot new outfit (or two)!

Seems pretty simple. You have name brand clothing and you sell it for a fraction of the cost. Honestly, that is what you get- a mere fraction. I had a blast as a customer while rummaging through the used clothing but as a seller I felt like I missed the point. Its cool to have an option of selling your clothing if you had no intention to do so which means extra cash for you! If you really need a good amount of money then this isn't the summer job substitute you had in mind.

I was impressed with the retail clerks who seemed to be well trained. They were dressed to impressed, dolled up and fashion forward. They also knew how to determine the actual origin date of each garment by looking at the tags. They knew the seasons of each piece and if it would sell or not-this determines the price. The prices are 70% lower than mall prices but more than thrifting.

They sell sizes 0-18 and men's clothing too. I saw many accessories that tickled my fancy. They have jewelry, hats, shoes, handbags and sunglasses. The website advertises that items in Plato's closet were in retail stores about 12 to 18 months prior to hitting their racks. I think this is a stretch but you don't have to take my word for it. There are many locations found on the website.
My advice for a young budding Fashionista is to work here for the invaluable training and up close handling of the designer brands. Its casual and more laid back than a high end mall with all the perks of designer brand interaction. Well, that's my take.
